What is Wellness?

"Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence." - National Wellness Institute

The work of Wilderness Wellness is based on the Six Dimensions of Wellness from the National Wellness Institute. It is a holistic model that allows us to examine the different facets of our lives thoroughly and deliberately. At Wilderness Wellness, we guide individuals in the "active process" of awareness and action to bring about positive change in their health and well-being.

Why the Wilderness?

We have busy, stressful lives. We have bigger houses, but we lack space; we have instant food and instant communications, but we lack time. We have more information present at our fingertips than any other generation before us, yet we still question our purpose in life. At Wilderness Wellness, we believe removing ourselves from the frenetic everyday pace, and disconnecting from technology, allows us to re-connect with nature and ourselves.
